Is iPod Touch 64GB 4th Generation The Best Ever?

Labels: , ,

The iPod Touch 64GB 4th generation is the largest capacity touch screen music player released by Apple to date. Being the 4th generation of the iPod Touch released in September 2010, it has pretty much followed the evolution of its closest relative the iPhone, with 4 generations being released over the last 4 years 2007-2010, with 1 new release each year. The iPod Touch is essentially a Portable Media Player (PMP), which is capable of multiple multimedia functions; from being your portable MP3 player, gaming console, video player, digital camera, internet browser, to your personal digital assistant that even handles emails and office documents. This amazingly cool mp3 player revolutionized the iPod series of Apple by adding in a touchscreen, hence its name "Touch".

Apple has been very smart and strategic in releasing the iPod 4th generation, since when you look at it carefully, it is essentially an iPhone 4 minus the phone, messaging and GPS functionalities. Thus, Apple has literally killed 2 birds with 1 stone by creating 2 products, the iPhone and iPod Touch coming from the same base, and catering to the smartphone and PMP markets respectively. Since it is without phone functionality, it is thinner in size than the iPhone 4 at only 0.28 inches thick, with the same 4.4-inch height and 2.3-inch width, weighing a light 101 grams. It has a curved back similar to the iPhone 3GS, and the same 3.5-inch touchscreen that is slick and responsive, fully compatible with the latest iOS 5.0 as well.

Since the 4th generation was released just 3 months after the iPhone 4, it was well-timed to pack the same upgrades such as the Retina Display, FaceTime video calls, and even the upgraded 5-megapixel camera capable of recording video at 720p HD resolution. The Retina Display is indeed one of the killer features in both the 4th gen iPod and the iPhone, sporting a record-setting screen resolution of 960 by 640 pixels for an image quality of 326 ppi. This record still remains unbeaten to date across both smartphones and tablets as well. The previous 3rd generation iPod Touch had a screen resolution of only 480 by 320 pixels at 163 ppi. It runs on the ARM Cortex-A8 Apple A4 processor that is slightly under-clocked at 800MHz to save power from its original 1GHz speed.

The key difference between this iPod and the iPhone 4 is in the maximum storage capacity, where somehow Apple has managed to cram in 64GB in flash memory into the iPod Touch, whereas the iPhone 4 was only released in 16GB and 32GB sizes. This has since been matched by the latest iPhone 4S just released in October 2011, which now packs the same 64GB maximum capacity. The smaller options of the 4th generation are the 8GB and 32GB sizes are well priced at $199 and $299 in the US respectively, while the 64GB goes at $399. It is certainly worthwhile getting the maximum 64GB model if your budget allows, since it gives you the best value for money in terms of storage size.

The iPod Touch 64GB 4th generation is compatible with the same iOS 5.0 on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, and though it lacks 3G due to no cellular data and phone functionality, it has full Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity plus USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 as well. Armed with the same 3-axis gyroscope and microphone of the iPhone 4, the iPod Touch is fully capable of all motion sensing functions and apps as well. With the release of the iPhone 4S, let us wait and see what might come next for the next generation of the ever-popular iPod Touch.

iPod Touch 5th Generation Release Date - Rumor Has It

Labels: , , ,

ByLucero Prado

There are rumors about the iPod Touch 5th Generation release date. If one were to log into the official iPod website, the latest updates are said to be announced directly to those who have their own Twitter and Facebook accounts. Also those who have an RSS account. The message is sent for free and on real time. What is the scramble about this one product?

Rumor has it that the release date is scheduled in 2011, September. That's it. There is no specific date and there is no confirmation either. As the title says, it is all a rumor but it is claimed that the source is "highly reliable." On the other side of the story, rumor has it that another product of Apple is set for release this year as well, the iPad 3. This is something that has made everyone interested in iGadgets going gaga over the thrill of a new gadget in their hands.

Rumor has it, once again, that part of the features of this 5th generation iPod, is the touch home button and a staggering 128GB storage. This is a great feature for who would have ever believed that all those songs can be stored in such a beautiful, thin, and handy gadget. This is assuming that the 5th gen gadget surpasses the aesthetics of its predecessors.

If we are to assume that the rumors are to be believed, then the only time the confirmation is ever going to be known is, when else, but the following iPod event that is in, you get it, September of 2011. This is again, assuming that the company will do their usual spiel in announcing the launching of a newly released iGadget.

Now, when browsing through the internet, there are some released pictures of what this 5th gen iGadget is supposed to look like. Again, rumor has it that it is just as beautiful as the predecessors and there are some of these gadgets going around on a test mode. No one can really confirm nor deny that the rumors have any truth to them.

Why is this such a big deal? Well, speaking from pure observation of the previous releases, the rumor is a marketing ploy that will play on the needs and wants of the many iGadget fans who will go to the lengths of sleeping outside the iStores for several days just so they can claim they were the first to get the latest from Apple. If rumors are to be believed and at the rate these rumors are eaten up by the consumers, this is another one of the success stories that can only come from iStores.
